Almost Friday

  • Tim: Hello accounting, this is Tim.
  • Lisa: Tim, its Lisa in sales - what day is it?
  • Time: I'm sorry. wha...
  • Lisa: What day is it, bud - quick things to do here!
  • Tim: It's Wednesday - oh are you going to do that whole HUMP DAY thing? Yeah, Jill and Lane told us to knock that off.
  • Lisa: Wrong - its almost Friday Tim. Do you know what that means?
  • Tim: No, what's that mean?
  • Lisa: It means that by the time we finish this call we will be closer to Friday than before we began this discussion. In theory we have traveled into the future and reached a time in space closer to the day called Friday.
  • Tim: Lisa.
  • Lisa: Tim.
  • Tim: I have so much work to do.
  • Lisa: Happy humpday, Tim.
  • Tim: Yeah, thanks.

Strategic Toolkit | The Infinite Tether

Tether = your company’s reason for being.

What’s tied to the tether:

Mission/Vision/Goals

Hiring Practices

R&D

WorkForce Planning

Metrics

- When any of the ties are out of synch, the tether is considered “loose”. Loose tethers are expected - the environment ebbs and flows. However, firms that fail to tighten their ties lose vital relation with the tether.
